Pulping Equipment

High and Low Density Cleaners

Cleaners use centrifugal force to drop sand, glass and metal out of fibre suspension. High-density units protect the refiner from abrasion; low-density units polish stock just before the paper machine.

Overview

Centrifugal cleaner system for removing heavy and light contaminants from pulp suspension. Multi-stage arrangement ensures high cleaning efficiency with minimal fiber loss. The optimized cone geometry creates strong centrifugal forces for effective separation of sand, metal particles, and other heavy contaminants.

Technical questions

Cleaner / Desander — common questions

Why specify ceramic cones instead of steel?

Ceramic liners resist abrasion from sand and glass far longer than steel or polyurethane. Wear is fastest in the high-density stage, which is where the cost of a steel cone shows up first.

How many cleaning stages do I need?

Three or four stages is normal on recycled furnish — primary, secondary, tertiary and often a fourth to recover fibre from the final rejects. Virgin pulp lines usually need fewer.
